New version 1-6-0

A new version of PlotSpectra is available. There have been several small interface bug fixes and a couple of added features (see the revision motes). There has been an important change regarding log plots. Prior to this revision data points with values <=0 were always stripped out when loading spect...

Re: Problem with median filtering

Hi Christian, My collimator is 100mm but the main difference is that my echelle is not fiber fed. I use a short 75 um long slit. The width of the lines is set by the seeing and is roughly Gaussian with a typical FWHM of 7 to 8 pixels (1x1 binning). So not very different from eShel. I have been takin...

Problem with median filtering

After reading Christians excellent article on echelle optimization I started to use 3x3 median filtering in my data reduction pipeline as I am using an ASI1600m cmos sensor on my echelle. However, I think I have uncovered a problem with median filtering that may be quite general and not just specifi...

Re: PlotSpectra

Hi Peter I think the problem is that I had not set up the 32bit install project correctly. I found setting up the install project a bit confusing and it may still be wrong for a 32 bit cpu as I don't have a 32 bit machine to test on . Re-download the install files and try the 32 bit installer now. H...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Here is V357 Lac for Sept 13th. R = 14000 and I estimate the S/N to vary between about 80 to 120 over the range.

Re: ASASSN-V J195442.95+172212.6 10.7V mag in Sge

My result for Aug 17. A difficult target for Echelle spectroscopy and conditions were not ideal - very high humidity and haze.

Minor ISIS problem

Hi all,

I have just noticed that when processing echelle spectra ISIS does not auto fill the header information for GEO_LONG, GEO_LAT and GEO_ELEV.
I am using version 5.9.3c.
I have not checked whether it does so for normal spectra, but I know it did several versions back.

Re: Symbiotic Nova V1413 Aql high state

Here is my try at V1413 Aql with echelle spectroscopy. Difficult as the current V Mag is approx. 12.5 to 13 according to AAVSO.
