Nice serie, Christophe!
Let me extend yours with my time serie (exceptional weather):
H-alpha at R~17000
H-alpha at R~17000

All normalized for the 6520-6530A range.

Sorry, I've overlooked an old value in ISIS -> Gnuplot -> double plot (has to be filled manually), should have been 600/mm grating.
The .fit headers are correct.
Clear skies,

Re: Probable nova in Hercules mag 6.4 !

An idea of the actual magnitude, the object seem faint last night ? Christian I've been taking spectrum on the night before yesterday, and it was hard to guide on the star (was just thinking about switching to offslit guide): novaher2021_Halpha_change.png My signal has halved on the raw images, ove...

Re: Calibration ISIS dans le bleu - probleme

Etienne, At the time when UV is correct, can you also please check the green and IR-end regions? (preferably with a target star, using eShel spectra for a comparison) Green range is hard to check without target star, because calibration lines are weak and blended... so we won't even get a proper RMS...

The daily cadence looks reasonable.
Got rainy days, please continue!

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?

Hello, Sorry for not answering sooner, been busy with more people contacting in private and discussing stuff. To establish a result-based decision, I've found one of my earlier observation session suitable: I've made a full night observation of Gam Cas around He I 4471 to repeat an earlier known phe...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?

Hi Benji, Currently I'm evaluating 2 software (spcAudace and SpectroCalc2) for use, so far only by reading the specs and maybe doing quick experiments (more time only at weekends). I don't rush, and I'm a slow learner. The SpectroCalc2.pdf manual tells about exactly my need, so easy to understand: &...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?

Benji, That method is still not the best for precision, because there are times when the shifts are nonlinear - which Robin noted here in this thread: http://www.spectro-aras.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2697#p15228 e.g. Gam Cas, HeI 6678, R~17000: I typically do these exposures (6 x 10 minute)...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?

Benji, If I'm reading the calibration method correctly, there are only 2 calibration frames requested by Pipeline 2a for 1 target (via google translated link): " 4. Pipeline Calculation Options ... Calibration with several lamp spectra: To even better manage the mechanical deformation of the sp...
