Re: SN 2024ggi a nearby type II supernova in NGC3621 (Dec -32 deg)
How bright did it get at maximum? I am still able to follow SN 2023ixf into the nebular phase almost a year old now with the ALPY200 currently at mag 17.5 https://britastro.org/specdb/data_graph.php?obs_id=16058%2C15738%2C15361%2C14880&multi=yes Here is the latest fit using SNID SN2023ixf_202404...

Re: Wavelength Calibration Relco
I will be interested to see what you find. I still have the same issue. I use ISIS which gives a good fit using auto calibration using the calibration lamp but gives an increasing offset towards the blue on stars. I noticed among spectra collected during a STAROS campaign that some ALPY users seem t...

Re: SN 2024ggi a nearby type II supernova in NGC3621 (Dec -32 deg)
Good try Tom ! Type II can be almost featureless at this stage. It will probably develop with time though. Compare with SN 2023ixf for example week 1 https://britastro.org/observations/observation.php?id=20230528_140227_583fe05370c08912 week 2-3 https://britastro.org/observations/observation.php?id=...

SN 2024ggi a nearby type II supernova in NGC3621 (Dec -32 deg)
SN 2024ggi a nearby type II supernova in NGC3621 (Dec -32 deg) https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2024ggi It was discovered last night, is rising rapidly and is generating a lot of interest. NGC3621 is at a similar distance to SN 2023ixf in M101 which reached V mag 11 last year so if you are far enough ...

Re: AT2024epj - A mag 10 transient in/near the LMC
And this is what I've managed with an Alpy. I suspect it's a little fainter than the 10th magnitude it has been estimated at. Similar result of about +/- 4200 km/s for the expanding shell. Yes the latest report on TNS suggests it is fading rapidly 2024-03-18 18:34:24.000 11.56 (sloan g) Robin

bug in smile geometric correction
there appears to be a bug/ "undocumented feature" in the way ISIS applies a smile correction (for example used in place of slant when selecting the ALPY 600 option). It can produce a shift in the dispersion direction at the Y location of the spectrum as here for example with the ALPY 200. ...

Nice Spectrum! A close match to SN2023ixf at a similar age
