Sythetic spectra flats?

I'm awaiting purchase of the Alpy Calibration module for my L-200, but I was wondering in the meantime if it would be possible to use MaximDL's filter, Flaten Background function to make a "synthetic flat" like that shown below: http://www.astroimage.info/spectra/SpectraSYNflat.jpg I know ...

Re: Delta Sco brightens mag V = 0.8

No flat was used. The air mass was low (>1.9) and that part of the sky has pretty bad LP. When shooting, especially after using neon lamp, I do 10-18 flush (dark frames) to purge Any remaining after glow on the chip. I didn't see "ripples" on any other object's spectra That night. James p....

Here is a spectra of del SCO taken last night with a CDK17 telescope, JTW L200 spectroscope, and ST-10xme CCD: http://www.astroimage.info/files/del%20SCO%2810May16%29150GRAT.jpg The calibrated with neon lamp and instrument corrected spectrum shows a nice fit of HA & Hb emission lines and a the H...

Re: A good night

To: Fran, I know this may be a controversial topic, but do you feel that the DADOS is more sensitive to dim objects (with the same detector) than the Alpy600? I'm probably going to buy another spectroscope (have the JTW L200) but I need one a little more sensitive that mine with a 150 ln/mm grating....

Re: AG Dra

To: Andy,

Thanks for the quick response! I install the latest Bass 1.93 and tried velocity correction, but it was only about 4 km/sec and did not
shift the H & He lines appreciably. Thanks for the realty check!

Re: AG Dra

Here is a spectra, using a 150 ln/mm grating, on AG Draconis on 04May16 http://www.astroimage.info/files/AG_Dra%2804May16%29spectrumSMALL.jpg This spectra was calibrated and instrument response corrected. I was wondering why my Balmer H and He lines are slightly "blue-shifted" with respect...

Re: Hello from James in USA

To: Ken, I use MaximDL5.23 for CCD acquisition and RSpec for spectroscopic calibration. I'm going to post some of my V0694 Mon spectra as well as Be soon. It would be nice to get CCD acquisition software whose FITS file output matches BeSS requirments. What software are people mostly using for BeSS?...
