Re: Geometrics slant and tilt correction with Spcaudace
Stan, Yes this is of course the case. Your logic is safe ;-) Hi Benjamin, I applied the command spc_smilex2img neon1.fit light1-5892a.fit and it appears to have worked very nicely. The lines from my LHIRES III are curved and slanted (as you know they are in the LHIRES III design) and the command did...

Re: Geometrics slant and tilt correction with Spcaudace
Hello Stan, Yes, when you Audela software, two windows are displayed: main Audela's window "Visu1" and the Console. Press ALT-TAB keys on your keyboard to see list of all windows opened. If Console isn't there, you have to removed the config file named audela.ini. Find it on your hard driv...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?
Hello Peter,
Great that you've founded a beginning of solution.
I'm currious about quantitave values returned by SpectroCalc for such shifting correction.
And a comparaison with the one done by Spcaudace on your spectra. They are stored in fits header keyword SPC_REGH.
Cheers,
Benji

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?
Hi peter, Yes this is not the best accurate method but it is still a way to correct the greater part of the horizontal shifting. Anyway, have you tested the pipelines to see how great is the accuracy? An improvement that is easly to do is to manage all your calibration spectra to build a non linear ...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?
Peter, Here you have to use only the first and last calibration spectra associated to a serie named such as starname_calib-1.fit and starname_calib-2.fit. Remove other intermediate calibration spectra from the working directory. With that, Spcaudace will compute a linear law for applying the right h...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?
Hello Peter, To get started quickly, you should do a training with the archive available in each pipeline tutorial and follow the steps described in it. Then you process your own spectra. Note that individual long exposure, ie >1200s, can't be corrected from mechanical flexures in it. The consequenc...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?
Hello Peter, I had also observed this phenomenon in the firsts years I worked with Lhires3 2400mm grating in 2005. Yes Lhires isn't mechanical stable. It can be improved by adding screws for camera-spectrograph and spectrograph-telescope interfaces and increase the tightening of all the screws of th...

Geometrics slant and tilt correction with Spcaudace
Hello all, Some users asked me how to do manually slant and tilt geometric corrections. Here are some tips. Usualy one won't need to know theses angles but only that his spectra are well processed with the pipelines. These latter are based on the following automated functions that are ran in Audela'...

Re: camera ascom - AudeLA
