Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

To: Joan, Thanks for the quick response! I'm using Isis V6.1.1 and PRSIM 10.4.20.930. Your image here looks very useful. My alignment shows that I was off by 0.3 degrees on order #34, but I was using figure 22 from this link: http://www.astrosurf.com/buil/isis/eshel/tuto1.htm and not your much easie...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

I'm almost on my 2nd year with the eShel without a processed spectrum. I had the injector checked by Shelyak and started to take and process new spectra, but I think my PRISM software is making it difficult for ISIS V6.11 to process. I noticed that PRISM, by default, saves the .fits image to Int (16...

Re: pi Aqr V/R and EW monitoring

To: Ernst,

This is great work! When I have my eShel fully operational, I'll take spectra and concurrent photometry with my ST-8xe.

Re: CMOS en guidage pour un Alpy600 ?

If you can find a used small chip Sony sensor it will be more satisfying for guiding/finding on dim targets. I use the Atik Titan on both my Alpy 600 and LISA-IR spectroscopes and have no problems with guiding and finding my targets as low as almost 16th magnitude! (of course I place target on slit ...

Re: Choix d'un spectrographe echelle

To: Nobert, Excuse me, my Franci is bad so here are my observations about your questions in English: - Baches has a better resolution than eShel: 18000 for Baches, 11000 for the eShel ANSW: True, but since this is "less stable" is this really desirable? - Baches is indicated with an effici...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

To: James, Sorry for not responding. I had to send my eShel injector box back to Shelyak for fine-tuning. Please remember to set you Canon 135 F/2 to F/2 on a Canon SLR camera body before you set-up, or you will be getting much weaker snr on your spectra. Another item is selecting which side of the ...

Here is my LhiresIII shot of RS Oph on 15Aug21:

The H-Alpha spike seems to be getting shorter with the "fan" below getting wider.

Re: Symbiotic recurrent nova RS Oph in ourburst !!!

I had my LhiresIII in "CaK-mode" so I shot RS Oph in this region on 09-Aug-2021: http://astroimage.info/spectra/rsoph_20210809_207_James%20R.%20Foster.png After this date, I changed to "Ha-mode" for spectra on 10 & 11 Aug21: 10Aug21: http://astroimage.info/spectra/rsoph_20210...

Re: TCP J20210770+2914093 a nova in Vul

Here is my LISA-IR spectra taken on 17 July 21...unfortunately, I only was able to get near-IR info on this interesting object. Last night with the Alpy600, sky clouded-up so I'll have to follow-up with a visual spectra tonight or tomm; Note all non-balmer lines are tentatively identified. http://as...

Re: Alert! Nova Cas 2021 mag 9

Here is my observations of Nova Cas 2021 (V1405 Cas) with my LhiresIII, as seen in this animated .gif: http://astroimage.info/spectra/V1405%20CasHa(24,25,26,27June2021).gif The Nova is still very bright...will post IVB magnitudes latter that I took near simultaneous with by LhiresIII spectra. 2021 m...
