Re: Probable nova in Hercules mag 6.4 !

Here is my combined Alpy600+LISA-IR shot on the same night (20June21): http://astroimage.info/spectra/nher2021_20210620_300_James%20R.%20Foster.png Here's a comparison btw Alpy600 data visual data taken 20Jun21 with 23Jun21: http://astroimage.info/spectra/N%20Her%202021(20&23June21).png Here is ...

SN 2021hiz

Here is a image and spectra taken of the SN2021hiz in IC3322A. I was surprised that it was so bright so I decided to do both imagery and visual spectra on it. I did try to take LISA IR, but there was almost no continuum right of H-alpha. Here is a clear (b&w) shot of the field taken with my CDK1...

Re: Alert! Nova Cas 2021 mag 9

Unfortunately, I cant monitor this Nova Cas 2021 from home, but I recently went to Mt. Pinos (2,500 meters elevation) and was able to capture Alpy600 and LISA-IR data. Here is the latest I've done from the nights of 13&14May2021, stitched together with as many lines as I could identify with Plot...

Re: Gerhard Hirth

Nice to have you on board! I was bitten by the spectroscopy bug after doing 10 years of asteroid astrometry and stellar photometry. My spectroscopes include(d) the LX200, LISA, Alpy600, LhiresIII, and now the eShel2 which I am still learning. Hope to see some of your work and please feel free to con...

Re: TCP J04291884+4354232 possible nova mag 10.2

Here's my contribution "recently" (before I got started testing another spectroscope) of Nova Per 2020, taken on 04Jan21 with the LISA-IR and 05Jan21 with my Alpy600 with the modified CCDwindow on my Atik 414ex (3625-9600A): With Possible line identifications: http://astroimage.info/spectr...

Re: eShel + IMX455 Sony

Although limited to 2000sec (32min,20sec) exposures, I've been working on my PRNU master file. Here is my result (1/8th normal size of 9576x6388px): http://astroimage.info/spectra/PRNU-MASTER-14Jan21aEQUsmall.png Per Christian's tutorial, I illuminated a wall with a halogen lamp, 3 meters in back of...

Re: eShel + IMX455 Sony

Got the ASI6200MM. One limitation I've found, using PRISM, is that the software does not permit the user to make exposures longer than 2000 seconds. I found this odd since Christian claims to make 3600 sec darks, but looking at page 3 of the user manual, seems real; see: http://astroimage.info/spect...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?

To: Peter, RE:"James, Thank you for sharing your method, good to see you also care with the shifts - at least the in case of high-res H-alpha region! If I'm right, you don't have any tellurics for the CaII region (not even for H-beta), so you can't check for any shift. In case with fiber fed eS...

Re: eShel + IMX455 Sony

To: Joan, Thanks for the response! I already went ahead and purchased the ASI6200MM as OPT had a $200 discount and were throwing in a copy of Prism with a similar sized discount! I need to master the eShel before work starts up again (Mar21-May21) so I want to take advantage of this Covid "down...

Re: LHires III shifts with long exposures - how to handle?

To: Peter & maybe Robin, I frequently do exposures with the LhiresIII with 45min (2700sec) subs; Nova Per 2020 for instance in H-Alpha, H-Beta, and CaK near 3900A. Isis V5.93 has been my default software for processing LhiresIII, LISA-IR, and Alpy600 spectra. I don't notice too much resolution d...
