Hello from Sheffield , UK

Post by Kevin Gurney »

I developed an interest in astronomy over three decades ago, but then the rest of life intervened and I had my 'nose to the grindstone' (as we say) rather than pointing to the stars... However, over the last few years, I have rekindled my interest in things astronomical and am taking advantage of an early retirement to 'spend more time with my telescope'. I rapidly caught the imaging bug (https://www.astrobin.com/users/keving/) but have become progressively more interested in spectroscopy. I am currently using an Altair Astro 10in Ritchy Chretien for the spectroscopy, mounted on a Mesu 200. I have an Alpy600 and a LhiresIII.

I regularly submit to the BAA database, and have started submitting to BeSS too. Skies in Sheffield are not always clear (that's British understatement, in case you didn't spot it ;) ) but I do try and take advantage whenever possible. I am keen to explore as many target types as possible and become involved in data campaigns without spreading myself too thinly!

all the best

Kevin

Hi Kevin

Welcome to ARAS !

Glad you were finally able to get signed up. I see you already have almost a hundred spectra in the BAA database. Impressive!

Cheers

Hello Kevin and welcome!

I recall that the procedure to join ARAS forum is: send me a mail with name, surname, country and time zone
The automated registration is disabled for that raison: here are the spectroscopy amateurs who wanted to join last night
Spectroscopy has become very popular!

You can find targets in the last Eruptive Stars information letter: http://www.astrosurf.com/aras/novae/Inf ... 018-03.pdf

All the best,
François
