Hello,
here is an eShel spectrum of VV Cep taken with an eShel on a C11 telescope. This kind of presentation was found in Munari & Zwitter 2002 (arXiv:astro-ph/0202274v1) - I liked it!
The red giant star spectrum is well visible with TiO molecular bands. The emission come from some ionized region certainly around the secondary component. See Steve Shore comments during OHP 2015 spectroscopy workshop (session 4):

This spectrum is a merged spectrum of all the orders. Here is a display of the orders before the merge - it is also a nice presentation but without rescaling between each orders:
