And to try to better see the oscilations of the blue part of H alpha emission line.

Hello all,

CH Cyg spectrum of the last night 2015/06/26

Animation of 15 profiles of 180s each.

The small Halpha line oscillation seems to go on.

Next evening (5 minute exposures, 25cm Newt, LHires/2400/15um, R~20K-18K, break between .897 and 911):

It was very slowly fading (note the 5:1 peak ratio to continumm already lower than the 8:1 outbreak we saw - but still seem to be double peaked).
After more than 1.5 hour observation switched to another target.

Hi all,

On 2015/06/27, blue wing of Halpha line has decreased a lot.
Peter, you observed the beginning, so we missed the transition...

Here is the animation with 20x180s spectra.

The profile looks quiet.

Yesterday it had double peak again (6:1 - 5:1 ratio of Ha/cont., Lhires 2400/mm, 15um slit, R~25K, 13 x 5 min):

Taken through randomly going over clouds (= variable SNR), finally had to give up.

Hi all,

CH Cyg spectrum of the last night on 2015/06/29

Double peak again with a very impressive blue wing Halpha line.

PS : a strange and slight wavelength shift along the 24x180s spectra ; neon calibration lines moving during monitoring with LhiresIII ?

Cheers,

c'est impressionnant, Jacques
Le continuum est remarquablement stable.
Bonne continuation

Oui et c'est d'autant plus impressionnant de suivre l'évolution du profil en temps réel pendant les acquisitions.

Another animation of CH Cyg : time serie of 64 exposures of 180s each (3H)

For Halpha

For H Beta (see the small emission line near 4888 Â)

Yesterday I was experimenting around H-beta with LHires + 600/mm + 15um slit, got around R~3000 in blue (which I'm satisfied because blue is less good at res. - at blue end, I can't even focus properly all the range).

3 minute exposures, with a few cal. pauses:

result_psomogyi_20150704_05_Hb_all.gif (1.98 MiB) Viewed 11368 times
Interpolated 3 times a ref.star Iot Cyg.
Took a bit few Ne/Ar manually (hopefully automated today...) but in return, exposures quite continuous with 3 bigger breaks.
Processed by ISIS, other than ref. star interpolation have not touched the continuum.

Note: this is also my lesson to get more precise calibration, after returning to lower it's more obvious...
