Trés impressionnant Christian
J'attends tes spectres avec impatience.

I have gathered last month's high resolution (R~10000) spectra from last month, and created a compilation around H-alpha.
Multiplied each with an individual constant, chosen carefully by creating 3-order continuum for each - rejecting the varying 6545-6580 region! - and finally used only their averages to pick the proper constant. (IRAF was able to fit that continuum specifying 2 separate ranges - simple normalization won't work properly here!)

Created an animated gif with using AAVSO:

Special thanks to JM (Robert James) and AAVSO for having the R and B magnitudes!

Today morning catch, left peak decayed a lot within 3 hours:

R~15000, first is 30 min, new one is 5 min (during sunrise).
(Took BF Cyg in between - that has not really change.)

Thin cloud veils were present in the sky - appeared as ripples at H2O holes on the ref.star.

Following the recent alert from Peter, who observed the symbiotic during a relevant H-alpha profile change on 30 may, I took the spectrum on two night in which the change occurred.

This is the profiles (R~16000) comparison for 29 and 30 may (a behaviour similar to 21-22 april event):

Image

I also detect a higher signal in the 30 may spectrum (~ 45K ADU of double peak maximum in single 600s exposure frames)

Very nice Paolo, your coverage is important once that we caught this rare short event!

Here is a 11 x 5 minute serie (out of my 49 continuous shoot), have a few exoposures where V peak fallen below but don't show here.
Values are absolute (just used Deneb ref. star for all here - the one I could reach after sunrise...), took basic calibrations, with linear combinations of flat and cal.lamps.

I plan to do nicer graph for this (velocity, log, colour, ...).

Hope someone can catch the fall event too (coulds here), it's usually up for 1-2 days only!

What a great work Paolo and Peter on a fantastic (and complex star) !
The time series of Peter is a must.
As I said in private mails, I'll update the database only late June.
Of course, keep watching the star as often as possible (and also some look at BF Cygni to follow the red part of the line)
All the best,
François (in Quebec city until tomorrow)

Here a 1h30m observation of CH Cyg with a swap of V/R peak. Taken the 31/05/2015 (date are in the legends):

Image

(200 mm f/5 Newton, VHIRES-MO (R=50000), exposure: 600 sec (each, i.e. time resolution), H2O telluric lines removed)

Changes are continuous. Organisation of a world amateur survey during a period of 2 or 3 days seem possible and welcome, also a first on these subject and a fine demo for professional community of amateur capacities! (possible good weather condition in France from 3 to 6 June).
