Dear Peter,

The spectra look quiet good.

HRV correction computed by ISIS is OK for the database.
If you have obtained the V mag by yourself, you can calibrate the spectrum in flux.
If not, I prefer the spectrum as is.

Hello all,

Here is my contribution to the suspected/misclassified symbiotic stars.
I obtained the following spectrum of V562 Lyr with a spectral range including the Halpha line (from 3800 to 7395 A) the 19th of July at 00 h 47 TU with my Alpy 600 (resolution of 506, JJ = 2459049.5329) and an acquisition time of 60 min :

Here is my spectrum for Hen 3-860 from 19 July.

Its quite noisy - the target is faint and the conditions were only so so. That said, the H alpha and H beta emissions are quite plain to see. There are a few other emissions that I am unsure about. I confirmed this with a second set of images on 20 July. I will give this some more time over the next week when the weather is better

Hi Peter,

That's a great result on a very faint target. Congratulations.
Your spectrum clearly identify Hen 3-860 as a symbiotic star:
- continuum of the red giant
- Balmer (HI) lines and high ionisation lines : He II 4686, [OIII] 5007
There are also He I lines 5876 and 6678.

Dear everyone,

thank you for your continuing effort! Ibrahima, Peter, and Christophe, great job.

Here are preliminary results on the observed targets:

V562 Lyr: Observations of Ibrahima and Christophe are consistent with the M2 giant. As there are no emission lines in the spectra, and the star was not detected in UV by Galex, I would say that it is only a single M giant. No periodicity has been detected by ASAS-SN, there is some semi-regular variability in SuperWASP.

HH Sge: The spectrum by Ibrahima, combined with the distance from Gaia and the brightness of the star suggests K subgiant, not consistent with a symbiotic star.

V503 Her: Francois, thank you for pointing out the previous observations of the object in the database, I must have missed that. The spectrum of James Foster might have been obtained during the time of the eclipse, which would explain the different continuum. This has to be double-checked. That would be a nice coincidence, however, if confirmed, the object would probably not been a symbiotic star.

Hen 3-860: Peter's spectrum confirmed, that it is indeed a symbiotic star (I strongly believed in this object, this was my favorite in the list :D ). Congratulations Peter, great job. I am already working on the photometry of the target covering especially its outburst in 2018. As I already indicated, I would like to devote a separate paper to this target. Subsequent observations of the star in order to increase the signal to noise, are welcomed.

I will analyze also Peter's spectra of Hen 4-204 and EC 19249-7343, as soon as these will be in the database (after checked by Peter).

Targets waiting for observation (see more info above): V1988 Sgr, V2204 Oph, ASAS J174600-2321.3 (Sgr), V5590 Sgr, 2MASS J01093484-0800329 (Cet), IRAS 19050+0001 (Aql), V618 Sgr. The last target is strange and might be much brighter than I thought (V ~ 15.3).

I have also taken a spectra of Hen 3-860 or WRAY 15-1062 as it came up on Simbad.
It is clearly a symbiotic star.

The spectra of V2204 Oph taken yesterday 30/07/2020. This star looks fainter than I expected.
Meade 10" reduced f7, LISA+Atik 414EX 6x600s. No more exposures were possible due to my local environment.
Guiding is not easy because another star with quite the same magnitude than V2204 is in the guider field.

Only one emission line is clearly visible on the 2D spectra.
On the 1D spectra strong Halpha emission line blue shifted (about 9 Å) seems consistent with the radial velocity announced in SIMBAD (-428 km/s)

I confirmed my earlier results for EC 19249-7343 and Hen 4-204. Both are not symbiotics.

EC 19249-7343 looks a good match for an early M giant. I've attached my spectrum plotted against a Pickles M3III synthetic spectrum with a few absorption lines noted.

Hen 3-204 seems to be a mid G giant. My spectrum is plotted against a G5III synthetic spectrum. The spike at 5581A is spurious.

Spectral calibration in the UV/Blue is not great - but should be sufficient for present purposes.
