I have had a request for spectra of this star from Prof Subo Dong of the ASSASN team. This star was not thought to be variable but has brightened by suddenly by ~3 mag to ~ mag 12. I plan to try tonight but I have thin high cloud currently.

A Spectrum in poor conditions (thin cloud) shows a blue continuum with weak H Beta H gamma absorption lines and no detectable H alpha

A similar result with my LISA. Conditions here were also poor with thin high cloud reducing flux. A subsequent email from Tonny Vanmunster to the CBA group reported observing superhumps and suggested this was an AM CVn type dwarf nova.

It looks like we have good agreement
I have uploaded a longer exposure version of my spectrum to TNS and the BAA database and pointed the ASASSN team to the spectra posted here.
Thanks
