Ciao Umberto :

To all :

After a small decline in last night, SS Cyg will again increase somewhat in brightness. This seems to be reflected in the graphics.
It is a pity not to have any reference photometric.

Friendly, Joan.

Hola, Joan,

here you are two photometric graphics excerpt from the AAVSO database. It seems that SS Cyg had two different maxima during this outburst

and here you are an extended graphic with all the last outbursts. Here, the alternance between short/small and long/big outbursts is clearly visible, but keep in mind that this periodicity is not always respected! I wouldn't be surprised if this current outburst will be a big one, like the last observed in Juny... at this moment I have the feeling that we are watching a big outburst!

Finally, my contribution from the last night. The calibration has been done with HIP 109831 (A2Vnn) = HD 211211 (there is a mistake in the graphic's title about the spectral class of HIP 109831: I treated it like an A2V star).

Hi Fran:
Hola Fran :

Thank you for your explanation, now SS Cyg must be in a long cycle.

Is really HD211211 a A5V? This question is for all.

I believe what he wrote in Vincent Bouttard, nobody denied it and I did not check.

SS Cyg, in the SIMBAB is ranked as the A2Vnn. is really what HD211211 ?.

Now I may have to re recalculate all my observations, more than twenty.

I stopped, until we resolve this issue.

Thanks, Joan.

Hi all,

Nice Spectra !
The two types of outburts, short and long reflects the two behaviors of the heating of the viscous disk :
Inside-Outside and out-in

About the reference star, we should have a unique reference
HD 222439 could be a good candidate

Hi Joan, hi all

Joan,
your results are really impressive. This is really interesting to follow the behaviour of SS Cyg.

Francisco,
For few years, the alternance between short/long outburts is respected but, as you said (and as Cannizo and Mattei said in http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1992ApJ...401..642C), this is not the rule.

Indeed, I've made a mistake in page 2 of this topic : HD211211 is not a A5V star but a A2V star. Really sorry.

As François said, HD222439 should be a good reference star too.

I've changed my mind and not systematically take HD211211 as reference star for SS Cyg. It really depends of the altitude of SS Cyg. During summer when SS Cyg is near the zenit, HD211211 is interesting but this is not the case in spring or autumn when SS Cyg is rising from the East or falling to the West.

I now use the last version of his tool Reference Star Finder which displays positions of target star and reference star in the same canvas taking in account beginning, ending and duration of exposures for both stars. This is really useful and highly more precise. I don't take a star which the altitude difference exceeds 4 or 5°.
I'm taking in account the class of the star (is the star available on the Pickles or Miles libraries ?) and the E(B-V) value (equal or really near 0) too.

V
ous laisse un graphique de ce soir.

Je suis heureux, Joan.
