Nova Oph (PNV J17184504-2454221)

Post by Paul Luckas »

A follow up to ATel # 10959 (http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=10959) taken last night under very challenging conditions including: airmass +3, dusk sky, city pollution, and my heat radiating roof line (corrugated iron within a few metres of my backyard observatory). According to Jay Strader (MSU), it's not dissimilar to the SOAR spectrum of November 13 (4.1m telescope at 8,700 ft). I guess it's always worth trying.

The target is ridiculously close to the sun, so this may be the last spectrum for this object (certainly by me).

Congratulations Paul, you managed a very difficult task well!

Also for your ATel #10975:

Another interesting subject, it's a pity that it gets near the Sun.
