Hello Forrest,

Many thanks Jim for your fquick answer, at the moment seems that the star don't give any signs of spectroscòpical instability and his magnitude seems constant too.

Perhaps someone should tell us which are the possible symptoms and alterations before to this possible nova-explosion.

Regards, Joan.

Hello Joan,

in the case that after all KIC 9832227 should evolve into a red nova I would expect it to be similar to a previous red nova V1309 Sco which erupted in 2008. It is described in a paper by R.Tylenda et. al. in A&A:
https://www.aanda.org/articles/aa/pdf/2 ... 221-10.pdf
It looks that there is plenty of warning time before the actual outburst and about 6 months for the outburst itself to maximum. With a brightness about 6 magnitudes brighter than the progenitor it should be an easy target.
But as it has been pointed out before, chances that this will happen are rather slim, but you may take an occasional spectrum of it anyway.

Regards, Martin

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for your very well information. I think the way is going to watching this star from time on time .., to see what happens.

Friendly, Joan.
