I just read from Atel #8487 that for the peculiar Be/X-ray Binary A0535+262/V725 Tau is expecting an X-ray outburst (the system is a strange beast, a strong X-ray emitter due to accrection of matter from the O9 companion onto a neutron star). I don't know how the event impacts in the optical spectrum but I saw, again in Atel messages, several related observation of H-alpha line (EW, FWHM, V/R trend). I hope something is within reach of amateur equipments. There are only three optical spectra in BeSS database until now.

Dear Paolo,

I've taken an hour for it on 31-DEC:
v725tau20151231.png
v725tau20151231.png (17.7 KiB) Viewed 7414 times
and tried VSpec Gauss fit to measure EW, but I'm new to this process and result varied highly upon selecting an interval.
I'll send it to the ARAS DB along with other bunch of spectra I'm reviweing at the moment.

Did a 2nd shoot some hours later (seems as if the line shape had changed), but don't dare to publish it due to sky conditions and poor SNR.

Possibly needs others to shoot it further (at any resolution), I'm serivcing my eq6 mechanics these weeks and + sky/fog conditions are not the best.

Cheers,
Peter

Very good spectrum Peter! Not easy with that resolving power. The line shape has changed a lot but my mid-res observation is very old (april 2014). Very interesting the fast changes you detected, we could try time resolved spectroscopy (I think I'll use the 1200 l/mm grating).

Here the weather is very bad so I cannot observe too. In a few days should improve (I hope). Meanwhile let's check the Astronomer's telegram.
