Lines identification on SN 2017eaw in NGC 6946

Post by Daniel Dejean »

Hello all,
Following an alert from James Foster (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1744) I did a quick search to find that SN yesterday (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1778). As shown in my message my setup (skywatcher Newton 200/1000 on EQ6 + Alpy600 + Atik428ex) is not optimum for such low luminosity object. Very low signal level with a lot of noise .Also the light pollution is quite strong in my area. However with proper filtering the calibrated data (instrumental response) give already interesting result compared to the very impressive work done by G.Krannich (http://www.krannich-online.de/astronomi ... 17eaw.html) . Main lines has been identified with an strong P-Cygni effect. Will continue to work on these data.
Nothing really new here but this is a major step for my very short and very limited experience (my first SN !!!) . Good to learn !
Cheers,
Daniel
