Hello,
Sure you know the plates of our Schmidt-Cassegrains and their AR tratament are a border for blue and violet light but some part of this light achieves pass, that is C. Buil says in his excellent reporthere.

He also explains really efficient techniques for improve our echelle results and shows us the way to improve our ones.
I have changed the tungsten lamp OSRAM 3300K  for one SOLUX 12V 35W 4700K and I achieved 3836 Ang. in the violet light in Vega. For more good results in the infrared region I need to focus better on this spectra part in detriment of the rest. The size of ATIK460EX sensible area is not big enough and is not permitted to get the Orders 25 and 24.

The  other hand, the solid construction of the NOU_T, it has that it is not necessary do any more precautions for their stability about temperature changes, for example, this last night I have observed Vega, P Cyg, VV Cep and Gam Cas, I have started  at UT 20:58:07 and finished at UT 00:34:10. Non, I am measuring their RELCO images and the reference light point in all of themis exactly the same, X = 668. Y = 831, the temperature had changed 2.5Cº. You have to keep in mind that the telescope and the NOU_T, they always are moving together.

Congratulations Joan.
Do you think a bigger sensor and/or another good photographic lense (105 mm or 135 mm instead of 85 mm) could help to detect more lines with better resolution in the deep blue - near UV part and/or in the NIR part ? Is the design of the Nou_T compatible with such lenses ?

Bonjour Michel,

Months ago when I decided to change in the NOU_T their two dielectric mirrors for two aluminium ones, this echelle passed from the order 55 (3976 Angs.) at order 56 (3906 Angs.), currently it has passed from de order 56 at order 57(3838 Angs.) in the blue.

It is possible if this new NOU_T I use UV-Enchanced Aluminium mirrors I will be able to order 58 (3773 Angs.) but we will know later. Now  this 58 one is weak and unfocused. Sure that it would see better if I used one 105 or 135 mm because they have one most corrected field than one 85 mm.
But :

I use the ATIK460EX in the NOU_T and this CCD is not big enough for one 105 or 135 mm. 
The 85 mm. is much more agile if you want to decide to observe continuously.
The NOU_T is one "direct injection" echelle to the telescope. I don't want to tempt the luck.
One R around 10000 is a very good solution for our telescopes. How more high is R more limited is the magnitude detected.
 The most of analysts ask for their studies R=10000.
All of that would change if one CMOS camera back illuminated 16 Bits, it appareated. With one affordable price, of course.

The NOU_T be able to arrive at order 24 (9429 Angs.). You only need two things for it, o CCD more bigger than the ATIK460EX and focus this spectra zone.

Finaly, in my opinion, reach at 3773 or at 9429 Angs. it is only a prestige or anecdote fact for itself, but it has a really good practice consequence, one much more detectivity in the H&K Calcium, (3933 and 3968 Angs.) and Calcium triplet (8498, 8542 and 8662 Angs.). Nowadays you can see that the most of research jobs are based in the Halpha, Helium, Iron and other elements in the visible spectra, and for Calcium H&K we have one really good interesting campaign observation, but nobody has asked for Calcium triplet observations yet.

You can see the first two of the five NOU_T echelles with the mechanicals parts finished.

One of them is for one observer of this Forum and another is for the Santa Maria M. telescope.

I hope to show here the first light results in a few weeks.

Hello,

Today I can show here a provisional result of NOU_T#2 from daylight with one ATIK460EX binning 2x2. Only with a little conceptual modification it can achieve reach of Orders 23 to 57, in other words, from 3805 to 9733 Angstroms !

Of course, that little solution is also applicable at NOU_T#1 and at NOU_T#3 hwo I have sent to the observer of this Forum. I hope that in the practic the three ones work well in this sense.

It seems that it with the little conceptual modification works pretty good. We will see which is his behavior on the sky.

I need do some more test yet, and the weather is bad here now, but I hope do
the NOU_T#2 firstlight in a few days.

Make 37 Orders is not bad, or yes?

Today I show here the NOU_T3 echelle mechanical parts before bring them to anodize.

Also I show the very good, reliable and stable behavior during the observations. You know that
the NOU_T is installed directly to the telescope.

Hello at all,

This is a new  possibility NOU_T optical fiber version, that is intended for a telescopes and mountsthat can't support the weight of a NOU_T direct to the telescope or doesn't have enoughspace or you prefer to work with optical fiber.

You need 20/30 minutes to transform the NOU_T to NOU_T with optical fiber, and 20/30 minutesmore if you want to come back to the first position.

Of course, you can connect to the NOU_T optical fiber everyone guide box that you have, such commercial or made by yourself.

The same way, due at the strong build and thermal stability of the NOU_T you don't need to putor keep this echelle into any insulating temperature box.

In these pictures you can see the NOU_T transformation to optical fiber using, I haven't mountedthe optical parts in this one yet, I will show here results with NOU_T optical fiber in the next future.I suppose that they will be the same without fiber.

Remember whether you can't afford one commercial echelle, the NOU_T could be the solution.
