Calibrex

Post by Tony Rodda »

Hi Guys,

I've built the Calibrex (to go with my UVEX3) and all is well - except one thing...

I can't get the servo to move.

The servo works for other Sketches. I changed the servo just in case. I've provided separate power to ensure it's not the PCB.
The 78L regulator has a 4.98V output which shows on the servo power pin. Is that high enough? The input is 12.4V.

There is continuity between pin Nano D9 and the servo signal pin.
Still no movement.

I'm using Arduino 1.8.13 (Windows 1.8.39). The Nano is a V3 at328p CH340C (using the old bootloader from the menu).

All the LED's, "Relco", Flat and Ascom driver/app work fine.

Before I change 78L and order different servos, are there any dependencies that you know of for the Nano or servos?

Keep up the excellent work!

Regards

Tony

Hello, Tony.

The power supply of the servo used is 5V, we use the 78L05 to have a sufficient intensity because the nano output is insufficient. Also you have 4.98 V is perfect. It is necessary that the ground is well connected also to the servo, finally you have the control which comes from D9 of the nano. You can try your servo on a free table. It should work without any problem. Be careful, you also have 12V servo, we have 5V.
Have a nice day.

Hi Alain,

Thank you for your response.

I can confirm that the servo I use is a 5V MG90S and that I'm using a 78L05 in the diagram you posted.
I've used a separate, direct, ground but still nothing. The servo just "ticks".

When I provide a separate 5.3V supply the servo works perfectly.

Perhaps the servos I am using are not good. I have ordered the same specification (MG90S) from a different supplier.

Hello

Tony to make a test you can put a 7805 regulator (same wiring) which allows to have an output current of 1A instead of 0.1A with a 78L05.
I can only see that, on our side we don't have this problem on our motor servos, maybe you came across a motor servo that consumes more than the average. You keep me informed.
Have a nice day.

Bonjour Pierre,

A suivre

Bonsoir Michel
