Re: Probable SN in NGC 6946
Nice determination of AT2017eaw's identity as a Type II SN! Here is a LISA spectra I took of it a few nights ago (28May17):
[Note: Reprocessed in Isis with better IR star and re-plotted in PlotSpectra 1.4.1.0]
Please note that I only labeled the telluric lines. I did some editing in Bass to eliminate the super sharp Hg line around 5460A; as a result there is no meaningful data btw 5466 and 5482A. Hope it starts developing more interesting features!

Nice P Cygni profiles at H beta, gamma. Interesting that it hasn't developed as obviously at H alpha though.
For bit of nostalgia here is sn2004et in the same galaxy but over on the opposite edge (Using the 100l/mm grating that later became the Star Analyser and a modified video camera)

Re: Probable SN in NGC 6946
Keep on the serie, nice results and analysis!
As for the P-Cygni profiles, I'm puzzled - can't match the absorptions by velocity (same SN 2017eaw 20170528.957): red: H-alpha, green: H-beta, blue: H-gamma, purple: H-delta
generated by IRAF/specplot
Education appreciated why only the emissions velocities match.
Attaching the fits, perhaps missed something obvious: - Peter

SN 2017 eaw

Dear all,
The (impressive) sêctra that you have sent are in a new page of the database
Let me know if something is missing

All the best,

Re: Probable SN in NGC 6946
La supernova étant une IIP on note seulement des raies de l'hydrogène ;

Re: Probable SN in NGC 6946
SN2017eaw the 7.88/06/2017:
I have used a very narrow slit (13 microns) with Alpy 600 spectrograph, and the first for me,
a ASI178MM-Cooled CMOS camera (ZWO) for guiding. The 2.6 microns of the detector
is valorized for a fine guiding (the slit image is oversampled, 13 microns = 5 pixels):
The guiding at the C11 focus (f/6.3 focal reducer), 10 sec. exposure:
(direct guiding on the SN image with Prism software).
