Re: V392 Per in outburst
Found a reference spectrum for this object here from 1998 when it was v mag 17.4. It is ~11 magnitudes brighter than this currently !

Good catch, Robin!
You have been mentioned on Atel#11588 having similar spectrum!
Cheers,
Peter

Confirmed as bright nova

Of course, more spectra are welcome. This one could be fast.

Re: V392 Per in outburst
Impressive !
Despite some difference it looks to be similar with SN2017eaw (see survey in that forum).
Many thanks for that alert.

Re: V392 Per in outburst
Great catch Robin,
Following the last year work on SN2017eaw a rough and dirty evaluation of your excellent data shows an hydrogène Ha expansion speed around 2600kms.
Everything is going fast and this is already confirmed with more details on http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=11588.
Congratulation and thank again for that alert. An excellent target for Alpy but weather condition are presently difficult here in Toulouse.

Re: V392 Per in outburst
I should add that, for SN2017eaw such global pattern arised around 70days after origin (+/-10days). If this is also true here, that mean this outburst is going on since a couple weeks. Interesting to note it has just been discovered despite all attention of astronomers around the world.
