Nova Monocerotis 2012
Nova Monocerotis 2012
Une nova découverte 2012 Aug. 09.8048 UT par Shigehisa Fujikawa (Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan)
Discovery Magnitude: magnitude 9.4 C using a 105mm camera lens+CCD
Coordinates: 06 39 38.74 +05 53 52.0 (2000.0)

Re: Nova Monocerotis 2012
This is a very bad image but hopefully it's clear: the spectrum changes, week per week (just one comparison now), are clear.

Re: Nova Monocerotis 2012
Thank you for the comparison Ivan.
Here today spectrum. It becomes easier as the nova is higher (altitude between 24 and 31°)
[OIII] always strengthens.

Nova Monocerotis 2012 - 07/09/2012
Observation of Nova Mon 2012 taken with LhiresIII 2400 l/mm on a Celestron 8 telescope:
Note: The LISA is equiped with a Atik460EX camera (bin 2x2) and the guiding camera is a Atik314L.

Blue range and [Ne III] - N Mon 2012
If you are curious and can push the blue wavelenght limit of the spectrograph, at 3869A the [Ne III] line emission is getting stronger. This confirms (again) it is a ONe nova.

Re: Nova Monocerotis 2012
Thank you Ivan,
I have [Ne III] 3869 & 3968, but the spectrum is very noisy under 4000 angströms due to the poor sensibility of the CCD in near UV.
Here's a spctrum with a 5 sigma gaussian filter which shows [Ne III] 3869 & 3968
Kind regards
François
