Transcient ASASSN-14fc

Post by Tim Lester »

Got a long exposure on this CV in outburst the night of Aug 8th.
I estimate the signal/noise to be better than 50/1 over the central portion.

H alpha is in emission and He II at 4686 is also in emission.
I think I can convince myself that H beta is also in emission in a broader shallow absorption.
HD195725 and its cflib spectra was used for calibration. Using 4.22 as the V mag of HD195725 I estimate the V mag of ASASSN-14fc to be about 13.2
