Re: SMM's 16-inch MEADE LX200GPS TELESCOPE PROBLEMS
Hi Juan, I will probably use a onstep S6 controller to upgrade an old Japanese mount for better GOTO performance. This will involve replacing existing reduction gears with a belt drive, as you have done with your 16* Meade. My question is, can you suggest a website where I can buy these belt drive c...

Re: SMM's 16-inch MEADE LX200GPS TELESCOPE PROBLEMS
Congratulation Joan! Antoni and you each deserve a medal for the work and effort that should have been done by Meade. Very disappointing, but not surprising, the lack of manufacturer support. It certainly looks that, thanks to Meade not helping, you will end up with an even better mount. Thanks for ...

Re: Using the ALPY200
Hi Tom, Thanks for your interesting comment. While I have an excellent dark-skies observatory I no longer use it as I only get to visit the site one night at the weekends, with no guarantee of a clear sky, and my city skies are very limited due to a neighbour's tall trees and buildings. My current t...

Re: Using the ALPY200
An excellent initiative Robin. After 26 of spectroscopy (from a Rainbow Optics grating, through, S100, Lhires3, eShel, LowSpec and UVEX) I've finally come around to the Alpy 200 and 600. For a variety of reasons, which I won't bore you with, I need to mainly move away from 'bright' higher res spectr...

Re: New eshel setup in Chile
Hi Stephane, Thank you for your explanation. I also have PRISM but never mastered all it capabilities. I only used the basic imaging module and then abandoned it for Demetra (eShel) ... but I still use ISIS for processing. If I ever decide to automate my eShel acquistion, unlikely, you may have me c...

Re: New eshel setup in Chile
Well done Olivier and 2SPOT ... reliable and successful remote operations are a challenge! Is your eShel operation fully automatic or manually remote? In other words is the location and positioning of the target star on the 50um fiberoptic 'slit' completely automated? If yes, can I ask what setup, h...

Re: PNV J17224490-4137160
Congratulations to 2SPOT for a job well done, from another southern hemisphere (Australia) eShel observatory.
Unfortunately this nova is not visible to me until very late at night.
Unfortunately, my weather is all cloud, or rain, these days so It is a case of 'If I could, I would, but I can't'.

Re: ALPY 200 or ALPY 330 ?
I am certainly interested in a ALPY 200, but can't, at this stage, give a firm commitment to buy one as I need to consider some other factors.
Are there any plans, if it is even possible, to allow the grism to be swapped for a different one, e.g. 200, 300 or 600?

Hi Berthold,
Can you give us some details of your new lens ... achromats used, spacings, etc?
Cheers,
Bernard

Re: eShel (II) progress, with problems
Hi Daniel, Berthold, Olivier,
The news about the Sablowski Petzvall lens is most interesting and encouraging.
When can we expect to learn more about its performance, availability and cost or, if is a DIY project, can we have the details on how to build our own?
Cheers,
Bernrd
