fast galactic nova TCP J17562787-1714548
I was alerted yesterday regarding Nova canditate TCP J17562787-1714548 by Andrew Pearce, co-discoverer. Coordinates are just RA and DEC of the above numbers (i.e. J2000 RA 17h56m27.78s Dec -17 14 54.8s http://cbat.eps.harvard.edu/unconf/followups/J17562787-1714548.html It has also been observed toda...

nice, both Balmer profiles seem to show a notch, so I guess that isn't just noise.

Re: SN 2021aefx in NGC1566 (Dorado)
Did anyone contact the paper authors to ask if they had tried to contact 2spot group? Perhaps there is a chance to add a proper acknowledgement to the online version of the paper. Shapee who is one of the authors is involved with asassn and therefore would be aware of the need to acknowledge observa...

Re: Astro-Colibri
i received the verify email immediately.
one thing which would be good would be the ability to filter by brightness. there is only a "bright optical transients" filter with fixed level of I think 18th magnitude.

Re: UVEX - Shelyak Motor Unit
is there any facility for an IR-low pass filter for order sorting (to avoid UV 2nd order aliasing into the IR)? Or would one need to have a filter wheel between the telescope and uvex? i.e. upstream of the slit? I assume there would be insufficient backfocus between UVEX camera flange and science ca...

Re: Introduction Valerio Oss
Welcome Valerio. How do you use the two different cameras? Do you use a flip mirror to switch between them? That is what i use (modified Canon EOS550D for platesolving on the reflected port of the flip mirror, while the spectrograph is on the straight through port of the flip mirror. But it does hav...
