Here is a spectrum of TYC 1371-69-1 from last night using an Alpy 600, Celestron 8 SCT, 1200s x 6. I can't see any Balmer lines in emission.

This is the field of view.

This compares the spectrum with the Pickles reference spectrum for M 1 III. It looks a reasonable match.

Does Francois have ( or could make) an online (eg. Google drive) spreadsheet or other list with updated status of the targets ( last observation, R, range?) compared to his last posted list?

@ John. Excellent, good practice to provide the field!
@ Hamish. Good idea. I will do it (delay a few days)

Bonne continutaion!

Hello everyone,

thank you to Hamish for the suggestion to prepare the online list with the targets. I was thinking about it for a while because indeed it became quite difficult to track the status of the campaign stars here on the forum from my posts and lists. Yesterday/today I have prepared a website, with the status of the campaign: https://sirrah.troja.mff.cuni.cz/~merc/classification. You can the current status of all targets stars in the list (which of them still needs some observations and which do not), together with some notes and remarks, preliminary results, etc.

I still plan to use this forum thread for a more detailed discussion of the targets (needs, results) and at the same time, it would be great if you all would continue to post your results here in the same way as up to now. And yes, I agree with François, that it is a very good practice to take a screenshot of your guider field, especially in the dense field (but not only) to ensure, that we can always verify that the correct star was imaged. This is very important for example in discussion with the referee of the paper if there is some interesting spectroscopic behavior seen.

The recent observations of the targets which were not included in the table before were selected by me for my night stay at Tom Petit's place (Tom from 2SPOT). We spent a night together and were observing together using the 2SPOT setup, so I selected some targets for that night that were observable in various parts of the night. Most of the targets in the list for which we need the observations now are observable only in the morning (e.g., high priority targets such as V917 Sco, V618 Sgr, some Gaia targets).

Anyway, while the targets in the list on the website are of higher priority, if anyone of you would be interesting, you can select some other targets from the New Online Database of Symbiotic Variables for which we don't have spectra yet. That would be also useful for the statistical analysis of the symbiotic population and the atlas.

Hello everyone,

today, I have included a new target to the list on the website (https://sirrah.troja.mff.cuni.cz/~merc/classification) - THA 15-31 (Sco).

In the paper which appeared today on Arxiv, Munari et al. classified the object as a new accreting-only symbiotic star (see the paper here: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2203.05453.pdf). The spectrum they analyzed is from 2012. In addition to the M6 giant (and excess in blue), they detected H I and He I lines. They did not detect He II lines in the 2012 spectrum. On the other hand, they observed the target using Swift in 2021 and suggested that at least at that time (in contrast with 2012), the star was emitting enough UV radiation to expect the detection of He II. We may try to observe the target to see if it shows emission lines with higher ionization potential now.

Looking forward to seeing the data.

Cheers,
Jaroslav

THA 15-31 taken this morning from our 2SPOT setup in Chili and process with spec inti.

And comparison between ISIS and spec inti process, better resolution and better snr in the blue part of the spectrum because of the way to calibrate the spectrum on each raw image with the [OI] atmospherique line at 5577,35Å with a new method to apply the flat.

Spec inti is available here : http://www.astrosurf.com/solex/specinti.html

That is an interesting comparison. I have started a new topic in the software sub forum with some questions
