One of my bosses at the chemistry company BAYER has been formerly professional astronomer in the ex-German-Democratical-Republic (City of Jena).
He introduced me to the astronomy, particularly in variable stars and spectroscopy, and he took me at hands in practical observations of variable stars with PEP (Photo-Electric-Multiplyers) and so on.
Since approximately 1965, I'm active within the field of spectroscopy by using the observatory of the Cologne Association of Star Gazers.
