Automation
As I've mentioned to a few other forum members, I've spent the last 12 months working on automating my spectroscopy. I'm pleased to report that I now have a reliable set up that can take spectra while I sleep. My system is not as elegant as that used by the 2SPOT team. However as it works and (mainl...

UVEX - Shelyak Motor Unit
I recently received the motor unit produced by Shelyak for the UVEX and have been busy testing and integrating it into my system. There may be other users considering this kit so I've set out below my initial thoughts on it. I operate my system remotely - my rig is housed in a commercial observatory...

Re: Process comparison ISIS vs ARP SpecINTI
Thanks for the explanation Olivier. Your scripting with Prism is more automatic than my approach with Voyager - which I will post about separately. It makes good sense, especially with a an Alpy. My UVEX with its narrower spectral range is a bit more tricky to manage I suspect. I've started to play ...

Re: Process comparison ISIS vs ARP SpecINTI
Olivier This is an impressive result. I am interested in understanding how you are managing the production of the response curve using ARP. I can understand how you would determine the parameters for the efficient production of the response curve using SpecINTI. However, unless all your targets are ...

Re: possible galactic nova asassn-22hw
Another spectrum for AT2022mmp. The weather has been terrible here with high humidity. I managed 2 x 600s exposures before the observatory roof closed. I was unable to collect a usable reference star spectrum and needed to use an instrument response curve from last week - so the continuum is not rel...

Here is my contribution
Taken on Monday evening. Taken with a UVEX 600 lines/mm centred roughly on H gamma. Those emissions are pretty fat!

Great work guys! Pro/Am collaborations are important and the recognition is well deserved.

Re: Suspected/Misclassified Symbiotics: spectra required
I continue to wrestle with getting the continuum correct in my spectra. The below graph gives a better view of the evolution of V618 Sgr. These are spectra taken on 1, 7, 8 and 17 May 2022. All have been normalised to their continuum so they are directly comparable. I have limited the graph to the r...

Re: Suspected/Misclassified Symbiotics: spectra required
V618 Sgr is certainly a fascinating target at the moment. I've been keeping an eye on it of late. I adjusted the grating angle for the UVEX from the Hb - Ha range to the UV/Blue this week. Here is a comparison between 9 and 17 May 2022. Disregard the continuum as my reference star was not well selec...
