Bonjour à tous,.
Ci-joint le profil de l’étoile HD 9878 dans Cassiopée, lequel présente une très faible émission au creux de la raie H alpha.
Ses caractéristiques sont: m= 6.7; sp=B7 V; B-V=0.016; H-K= 0.032;
Cette étoile aurait besoin d’une confirmation extérieure en haute résolution (critères 3 et 4 d’Andrew Smith) pour se présenter au statut de candidate Be ou de Be déclassée.
Merci à l’avance.
Cordialement
Hi all,
Attached the profile of the star HD 9878 in Cassiopee which presents a very weak emission in the hollow of the line H alpha. Its caracteristics are: m= 6.7; sp= B7 V; B-V=0.016; H-K=0.032.
This star would need an outside confirmation in high resolution (criteria 3 and 4 of Andrew Smith) to appear at candidate’s status Be, or of relegated Be.
Thanks to the advance.
Cordially.

Gerard, Yolande, very interesting finding! Not easy with a low resolution profile.
I just observe it (was cloudy before) with Lhires III 1200 (R~6000) and confirm an emission double peaked component.

Vizier results for the star (no emission indication):

I think we should send our data to Thierry Lemoult for adding to the possible-Be database (it seems to me that HD9878 is not included) and continuing to monitor the star for any changes.

Hello Thanks for these spectrum. A congratulation to Yolande and Gérard.
I will integrate these spectrum soon in the ARAS dedicated page here http://www.astrosurf.com/aras/be_candid ... idate.html

Yes, congratulation to Yolande and Gérard a good spot at low resolution.
Incidentally does anyone know if any professional studying Be stars have taken any interest in our discoveries?
There must be more to find as the number we have found doesnot balance the statistical short fall pointed out by Francois.
Regards Andrew
