Observatoire de la belle étoile

Post by Olivier Thizy »

A new observatory installed in my backyard. I add the eShel today and I'm taking my first spectrum of beta Lyrae (Shelyak)! More to practice but it seems to run ok. Still need to work on my telescope collimation and hope for better seeing. I saturate in about 15min which is way too long. Well, I have an old ST1603 camera which desn't help of course but there are some margin for improvement!

I saturate P Cygni in about 5min...

A blog describes the observatory construction last week and the initial testing:

Hello Olivier, congratulations on the new wonderful observatory! Are you having an observatory contest in France? ;)
I'm very happy for you and other people who built excellent observing stations. Productivity will be increased a lot!

All the best!
Paolo
